Best AI Call Assistants for Mortgage Loan Officers in 2026: the buyer's shortlist

Most mortgage AI talks to borrowers for you or summarizes the call afterward. The best AI call assistant for a loan officer who wants help during their own call is Rider, if you work from a phone: it works on a real call on your own caller ID, hears both sides, and bills only talk time. It is not a compliance tool. We built Rider, so we show our scoring and where it loses.

Key Takeaways

What an AI call assistant for loan officers actually is (and what it is not)

An AI call assistant for a loan officer listens to a borrower or referral-partner call while it happens and puts guidance on your screen: the next question to ask, a correction when you misstate a term, and which goals of the call are still open, such as income, timeline, property and who else is on the loan. The point is to change what you say in the next ten seconds.

It is not an AI voice agent. Total Expert describes an assistant that engages contacts, assesses intent, schedules appointments and transfers the borrower to a loan officer, and says it will identify itself as an AI. That product answers borrowers so you do not have to. A call assistant helps you on the calls you take.

It is not a mortgage CRM. Insellerate and similar platforms hold your pipeline and add AI inside it. A call assistant has no pipeline and no loan data.

It is not a pricing engine. Rate and eligibility tools such as Mortech and NYLX return live pricing from your investors. A call assistant does not connect to them.

The hard question is how the tool hears the call. On an iPhone, apps cannot record a normal cellular call. A bridge places the call through the app so it receives both sides. A microphone route listens to your speakerphone. Some listings say a tool records on your own number without saying which route they use, and that is a question to ask before you rely on one.

How We Ranked These AI Call Assistants

We scored each product from 0 to 5 on six criteria, weighted them, and multiplied the sum by 20 for a score out of 100. Every fact comes from a vendor page, an App Store listing or a vendor help doc, checked on October 13 and 14, 2026. We did not trial any product, so "live" means the vendor's copy says so. Weights are our judgment.

CriterionWeightA score of 5 means
Live suggestions25%Suggestions on screen during the call, documented by the vendor
Phone path30%A real call on your own number, no required dialer, clean audio of both sides
Mobile and self-serve15%An iOS app that anyone can buy without talking to sales
Scope15%Works for any hard conversation, not only one sales motion
Adjacent features10%Practice, call prep, hold handling and consent built in
Pricing5%Pay per use, no seat

Where a vendor does not state a fact, we scored the criterion low and say so. That makes the scores for Helport and Shilo estimates from limited public information, and the real products may do better.

Disclosure: Rider is our product and we scored it on the same rubric as the rest. Because we chose the weights, treat the order as an argument, not a verdict.

The Best AI Call Assistants for Mortgage Loan Officers in 2026

Five products follow, ranked by score. Prices are list prices we saw in October 2026. "Not stated" means the vendor does not say.

1. Rider, best for loan officers who take borrower calls from a phone

Rider listens to both sides of a call and puts one next line on screen, under twenty words, before the borrower finishes. You dial from the app, or it rings your phone first and bridges you in, and the borrower sees your own number. It tracks your objectives for the call as they get covered, keeps running notes of numbers, people, objections and promises, and shows a fix when you misstate something.

When the borrower agrees to a next step, Rider proposes the matching action on a card showing what they said: a meeting on your Apple Calendar or a follow-up call on your list. You confirm each one. Consent is built in: your opening line asks whether an AI note-taker may listen, and Rider cannot hear the borrower until you have asked. The assistant works from your playbook, such as your programs, process and objections, so a number it suggests must come from there or from the call.

Where Rider loses: it has no mortgage knowledge beyond what you put in your playbook, no connection to your pricing engine, CRM or loan origination system, and no customer base to point to yet. The iPhone app is not on the App Store, and there is no Android or Apple Watch app. At 50¢ a minute it costs more than a flat plan for heavy talkers.

Best suited for: Loan officers and mortgage brokers who take borrower and referral calls on a phone and want clean two-sided audio, consent handled on the call and no subscription. Not a substitute for compliance review.

2. TalkPilot, best flat-price option that works on your own phone

TalkPilot is a real-time conversation coach for Mac, Windows, iPhone and Android, with modes for sales, work, interviews and general conversations. It shows the next line on screen with a recap afterward and puts coaching on the Lock Screen, Dynamic Island and Apple Watch.

Its help page says "iPhone and Android don't let apps hear call audio, so a call on your phone only works on speaker." You keep your native dialer and caller ID, but the app hears the call through the room. It has no mortgage features, leaves consent to you, and its two App Store ratings are too few to judge quality.

Best suited for: Loan officers who talk more than about 40 minutes a month, take calls on speaker, and want one flat plan.

3. Helport Go Call Assistant, best free iOS download that names loan officers

Helport Go, from Helport AI, Inc, is an iOS app subtitled "Transcribe & Summarize Calls". Its listing says you can "record calls directly in the app using your own phone number" with no call forwarding, and it describes live transcription "even when mobile" and "real-time cues like market trends or rates". It names mortgage loan officers as a target user and includes a mortgage summary template.

It is the only tool we found that names loan officers and lives on an iPhone. What the listing leaves out matters: it does not say whether it hears the other person, whether it asks their consent, or what the "cues" are beyond market trends. The newest version is over a year old. Its privacy label says the developer collects no data, though Apple has not verified that.

Best suited for: Loan officers who want to try a free iPhone app for transcripts and summaries. Test a real call first, since the audio path is unconfirmed.

4. Shilo, best for real estate teams that want coaching tied to their CRM

Shilo is an AI assistant that, in its words, "listens, coaches, and guides your agents in real time" and enriches your CRM after every call. It also offers role-play of previous calls with feedback. Its pages target real estate teams, and a brokerage blog describes it for agents and loan officers.

Its customer results, such as a 113% conversion increase at one team, are the vendor's own and unverified. It is the closest fit on product shape here, with live help, CRM enrichment and practice. It scores low only because the pages state no platform, call source or price.

Best suited for: Team leaders at real estate or lending teams who want live help plus CRM enrichment and are willing to book a demo.

5. Hyperbound, best for lender sales teams on video calls with a procurement process

Hyperbound has three products: Practice (role-play with instant feedback), Perform (call scoring and insights), and Live Call Coaching. The live panel opens when a rep joins a call, ticks off a playbook checklist and triggers battlecards. It lists financial advisors and banking among its customer industries and claims SOC 2 Type II and ISO 27001.

It has the strongest compliance posture on this page, and it is built for sales teams, not for an individual loan officer on a phone. Its sources disagree on whether live coaching is a paid add-on or a private preview.

Best suited for: Lender sales managers who run calls on video platforms and need security attestations for procurement. Not for a loan officer taking phone calls.

Also seen but not ranked: Total Expert and Insellerate, which put AI in front of the borrower instead of beside you; Granola, which summarizes after the call; Callingly and similar lead-response tools; and AgentTech, which sells live compliance monitoring aimed at insurance.

Side-by-Side Comparison

Scores are 0 to 5 per criterion, and the total is out of 100.

What each option costs at your call volume

Rider charges per minute of conversation, so cost scales with how much you talk. The others in the table charge a flat amount or do not publish a price.

Conversation time a monthRiderTalkPilotHelport GoShilo and Hyperbound
1 hour$30$20Free to downloadQuote only
4 hours$120$20Free to downloadQuote only
10 hours$300$20Free to downloadQuote only
20 hours$600$20Free to downloadQuote only

Rider is cheaper than TalkPilot only below about 40 minutes of conversation a month. TalkPilot's free tier covers 5 conversations a month. If you spend hours a day on the phone, a flat plan beats Rider on price, and the question is whether clean two-sided audio and on-call consent are worth the difference.

Rules to check before you add a listener to a call

These tools help on the call. They do not make a call compliant. None of this is legal advice.

What results look like

We have no loan officer case studies yet and will not invent any. These are numbers we measured on Rider ourselves, from tests and demo calls, not customer outcomes.

If you want results, once you have access the 10 free minutes are enough to judge Rider on your own calls. We will add case studies here once customers agree to share them.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is an AI call assistant for mortgage loan officers?

It is software that listens to a borrower call as it happens and shows you the next question to ask, a fix when you misstate a fact, and which goals of the call are still open. It is different from an AI voice agent, which talks to borrowers for you.

Do live prompts help or distract?

It depends on the person. One vendor with a competing product argues live prompts pull a rep out of the conversation and favors post-call coaching. Rider keeps one short line on screen at a time, and the free minutes let you test it on your own calls.

Does Rider know mortgage compliance rules?

No. Rider is not a compliance tool and has no built-in knowledge of RESPA, TILA or TCPA. It flags a promise your playbook does not allow, so any rule you want enforced has to be written into your playbook, and we have not tested that for lending.

Can Rider quote rates?

Only rates you put in your playbook or say on the call, because every number it suggests has to come from one of those. It does not connect to a pricing engine, so confirm any rate against your own source.

Do I have to tell the borrower an AI is listening?

Recording and AI rules vary by state and by your employer's policy, and most tools leave consent to you. Rider's opening line asks whether an AI note-taker may listen, and Rider does not hear the borrower until you have asked. Check your lender's policy first. This is not legal advice.

Does it work on an iPhone?

Rider places the call through its app, so it hears both sides, and the iPhone app is in beta. TalkPilot works on speakerphone through the microphone. Helport's listing does not say how it hears the other side of a call.

Can I try one without paying?

Yes. Rider is invite-only right now, and you get 10 free minutes with no card when you join, TalkPilot gives 5 conversations a month, and Helport Go is a free download whose in-app purchases we could not see.
